the war in the mideast rages on.

hizballah has claimed they will not release the two kidnapped israeli soldiers unless israel also releases a few ‘raiders’ captured while conducting raids in israel

so let’s get this straight. hizballah launches raids into israel. the raiders attack their targets, kill unarmed civilains as hostages while trying to flee israel. (including women and children) and then they are captured.

so hizballah launches more raids into israel. captured soldiers, which is a further act of war. and then demands a prisoner swap.

sounds to me like israel should capture some hizballah officials, in lebanon, take them to israel. and then demand a soldier swap.

but if israel did it, it would somehow enrage the international community who sit idly by and wacth hizballah do it all the time.

morons.

so the war continues. i’m still hopeful that israel will drive north through lebanon, into the beka’a and squash hizballah mercilessly. then turn right into syria itself and do the same thing there. it would draw fire away from iraq, and put the ba’athists out of office there. hopefully.

they should book. just lay waste to the military infrastructure there.

but new movements are afoot. syria and spain are calling for a ceasefire. big surprise there. let us atatck you. and attack you. and attack you. and when you get tired of it and return fire, hold off a sec! let’s have a cease fire, which we will of course violate shortly, but hold the document up to the world with your signature on it, claiming you won’t attack anymore.

it is not in israel’s interest to cease fire. it is in israel’s interest for hizballah to vanish, in whatever way it can be brought about. it would be even better if the regime in syria changes too.

spain is being used by syria. not only is syria getting them to call for a ceasefire, they demanding that the golan be returned as part of the deal. y’all do know that the syrians used to lob artillery fire into tel aviv from the golan heights? israel can’t let that go.

the only vredible plan i’ve seen involves nato placing troops on the lebanese-israeli border to enforce the peace.

won’t work! missiles will be launched over the troops. hizballah will just use the nato troops as a deterrent to israel launching raids into lebanon. hizballah launching raids into israel? why? with nato troops on the border, they present a much more lucrative target than israelis.

that’s why israel will go along with that plan. get nato to take casualties in an effort to draw nato firmly onto the side side opposing hizballah.

putting nato troops on the border between israel and lebanon is the worst possible thing for nato.

the best thing is to let israel handle hizballah, as they are more than capable of doing.

i just wish the lebanese government could have used this as an opportunity to get rid of hizballah as well.
