ahmadenijad is supposedly a soccer fan.
he may travel to germany to watch iran play if they make it to the elimination round.
rumors have it that he may be arrested if he does travel to germany.
on one hand, he’s wanted for various things by the international court, but it’s also against the law in germany to deny the holocaust. if he gives one of his typical anti israel, anti jew speeches while there, the germans could take action.
more than likely they’d just expel him, because he is a head of state.
but i don’t think they’ll do much more.
and they shouldn’t. i don’t like using international sports events as political tools. nobody should boycott the olympics. nobody should boycott the world cup. nobody should use one of these venues to make political statements.
if mahmoud does go to germany, i hope he keeps his mouth shut and just enjoys some soccer. and i hope the poers that be leave him alone as well.
unless he pops off. the correct thing is for the germans to give him the rough boot right to his airplane.
The German will give him just one (1) penalty…
And bye the way: The Dutch won their first game, and more to follow!
…By the way…
Viva Italia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least until they play USA. They face a powerhouse team from Ghana. 🙂
I hope all this calms down soon, as it is not in anyone’s intsreet for it to continue. That, I believe, is why the French prime minister called Nick Clegg on Friday afternoon [to build bridges].
