lance is at it again! he’s currently in 6th place, but has already won one stage. more importantly, he has mad eit through the perilous first phase of the tour de france.
the photo at right was taken from Graham Watson’s website.
the first phase is apparently the most dangerous, a lot of it happens in little backwater towns with cobblestones. very pituresque, but not cool for bicycle tires. lance was very worried about a mass bicycle spill on the cobblestones. just some random rider not paying enough attention, takes a spill in the middle of the pack, and lance is out of the running for 6peat.
and it has been raining there as well.
i also read that his 3 biggest competitors are not in the running. they may have taken the spill that lance feared. a norwegian won the last phase. they don’t think he is a contender, but lance is #6 right now.
the second phase coming up is more mountainous. and a third and final phase evidently deals with longer more level stages. ending in paris of course.
lance had a brief cameo in ‘dodgeball’. i won’t ruin it for you, but he has a couple of lines.
i had a coworker once who declared tiger woods as the babe ruth of our times.
sorry aaron, lance armstrong is the babe ruth of our times. 7 year cancer survivor? not tiger woods.
go lance GO!
Iban Mayo is the only serious rival who’s been knocked out of contention. Even so, he’s only about 4 minutes or so behind Armstrong.
His main rivals, Ullrich and Hamilton, are still up there with him.
i must have read an old news article or something. i was kind of wondering about ullrich myself, but the artcile listed a frog, italian and spaniard as his main threats, and said they were out of the running. i’m going to have to go look for the article now.
Armstrong is 36 seconds ahead of Hamilton, 55 seconds ahead of Ullrich, and 1:08 ahead of Leipheimer as of today’s rest day. He’s 9:35 behind the yellow jersey (Voeckler) right now, but nobody in front of him is expected to survive the first mountain stage except maybe Jakob Piil, and he won’t survive the second.
Ivan Basso (the Italian your article probably referred to) is 1:52 behind Armstrong, but I’m not too worried about him.
Mayo (probably the referenced Spaniard) got collected in the cobblestone accident; that’s where he lost most of his time.
I can’t think of who the French contender might be (insert surrender joke here).
Dude, the butterfly has landed. I’m using my neighbor’s computer, but hope by next week to be fully functional.
Miss you guys, tell Simply Me I miss her too!!!!

simplyme is in indiana and just had a nasty car wreck. well, the vw is totaled. she has a cut on her wrist, and walked away. she’s fine.

random stuff? ask big john about it too. babe ruth of our time john. 6peat! go lance go!
I second that – – Go Lance GO!
whatever. I still think it’s random.
He uses steroids.
what makes you think he uses steroids? any evidence?
and those other riders, they would never use steroids.
