The Price of Gas

sucks doesn’t it? keep going baby. higher higher and higher.

i hate paying money, but the higher the price climbs, the more angry people get. right now, they’re focused on the oil companies.

let’s face it. oil companies are in business to make money, and that means they are, and should follow, the age old rule of supply and demand. the demand is there, so they’re jacking the prices up. people are whining, but they’re still buying. when they actually start looking for motorcycles, and bicycles, the oil companies will have to stop raising prices.

but the real culprits are the oil producing nations. they keep jacking with the supply. and it’s their oil to sell. so it’s their supply to jack with.

but i’m loving it.

money is a motor. and the huge concentration of money in the middle east, resulting from oil revenues, gives those yahoos the motor to do anything.

if you take away the importance of oil, you take away the significance of the middle east. once oil loses it’s value, OPEC is bust.

that’s why i like climbing oil prices. the uproar, and unsteady oil supply, is inducing oil companies to begin searching for alternate fuels.

ever heard of E85? it is simply put, gasahol. it is an ethanol gasoline mix. 85 percent ethanol. yep, it’s good old fashioned corn squeezins.
so imagine if the demand for oil dropped by 85 percent? we import something like 60 percent of our oil. that means we would literally become energy self sufficient. NO MORE IMPORTS of oil for us baby.

and that means that that huge chunk of cash that we pay, that goes to the oil sheiks, and hugo, would go to the producers of ethanol. and those are farmers. we would no longer be financing middle eastern crap when we fill up. and that will go a long way to end the problems in the middle east.

and really, if the middle east didn’t calm down, who’d care?

    1. I thought gas prices were going up recently because the markets are getting shaky on the rumors of war with Iran?
Of course I happily agree with you about energy independence, when we can extricate ourselves from all these shitty places and maybe stop sleeping with tyrants. ‘Bout time.
But you’re right, pkelley, there might be mayhem if the oil runs out before we’re quite ready for it to end…

    2. look up E85. if you can use it now, go for it. my car won’t hack it, but i’m about ready to go and trade it in. unpfortuneatly, most of the vehicles that are compatible with it are trucks.

    3. you guys whine so about cheap gas. try paying $65 for 10 gallons, like people where I live do! of course, that’s because of all the taxes the local governments impose, but let’s not get into that.

you notice that Ahmedinejad is saying that oil, at $70/barrel, is very much undervalued?

I find it quite funny that we have people worrying about anarchy if we don’t switch to ethanol produciton in time. after all, we have had shale-oil efforts, and lower-yield wells capped, for a couple of decades now. we can’t reopen the capped wells because of environmental concerns. we stopped mining the shale for environmental concerns. heck, we stopped building nuclear power plants because of environmental concerns (there’s one half-built in Colorado, we just walked away from it after spending over $1 billion). where did these environmentla concerns come from? the green-loving Left!!!! so who would be to blame if we have anarchy from lack of oil supplies because we rely on imports from the Middle East? Guess!

    4. hi,

The oil and gas prizes raised in Europe the past 2 years over the 42%.
Next raises wilbe be end june, and again a raise of 15 – 20 %.
I guess the reason is not (only) Iran but the increasing need of oil by China and India. The economy of those countries and is going stronger every month, so they needs more and more oil.
The Opec is at theirs level of producing.

btw: i have to pay for 1 liter: 1,61 euro…..

    5. Yeah, the gas in Loughborough, UK is 98p per litre. That’s $1.75 USD. There’s approx 3.75 litres in a US gallon, so that costs these poor souls about $6.60 per gallon! We’re (US citizens) are soooo lucky when it comes to gas prices.

I would use a bike more often now that I know what it’s like to not be able to drive…it sucks, but a bike is way better than walking to the stupid town centre. But yeah, I think I’m going to ride my bike to places in my town when I get back home. Or not…we’ll see!

    7. It would be nice if it worked out that way, but it wont. We Americans are too dependent on the easy way of life, fast food, fast life…no room for new ideas that might cause an inconvenience or cost more in the begining….we’re spoiled.

    8. It Ain’t No Oil Bubble
Mlah, you’re right. When you find the natives can handle the price and still buy SUV’s why in the world would you lower prices? It’s not like we can go open our own refinery and undercut anybody. And with the regulations invovled there is no quick captiatlistic market correction.
