i’ve been down for a while. literally.
the doc didn’t see any fractures or breaks in my ribs. but she said that’s the case with about 50% of cracked rib cases. she told me that half the time, they can only see cracked ribs after the fact. ie, the can see the healing process taking place, but can’t see the fracture.
must be the case with me.
the doc took some blood to run tests. i’m used to the usual vile of blood for cholesterol, but they took 4 this time. seems my new doc was checking everything. the little blood draw-er (vampire) new what the tests were for, and would remark, this is for the liver, this is for the thyroid, this one is for the ……..
so it’s good she was checking me out.
i’m tellin y’all. i can be rough as hell. i can endure a LOT of pain. sometimes. i waited a full week before i saw the doc for this. and then declined the pain medication. (she practically insisted i take a muscle relaxant at least, skelaxin).
but i CANNOT stand being sick. i can’t stand being immobilized. and that’s what has happened to me.
i have been sleeping on my couch for nearly 2 weeks now. and i mean sleeping. 12 hours a day or more. guess my body knows what it has to do.
i was born with a slight birth defect (internal) that would flare up from time to time in my youth. i mistook it for stomache flu. the navy diagnosed, and repaired it prior to putting me on submarines.
this damn rib thing feels kind of the same and has had me paranoid for around a week now.
at first, i was in such high pain, all i could feel was my rib. but as the initial damage, swelling went away, i was left with the aftermath.
i could feel everywhere else that got hurt too. my whole rib cage was rattle. i ached everywhere in my rib cage. and this is when i got paranoid.
today, this afternoon actually, the pain is going away. i can move around fairly normally. that one spot on my back still hurts like a bastard if anyone touches it, but other than that, i’m healing up well.
quite a fall wasn’t it? i jumped in the air, had my legs swept, and then fell almost flat on my back.
i’ve got to work on my falls.
it should have been a reflex.
My daugher got busted in the nose today. That resulted in a pretty wicked gush session…and now her nose is turning purple.
The funny thing is…this didn’t even happen during class. It happened at the end of class when she was walking to the locker room and another student slammed right into her. Somehow her nose connected with his forehead.
Her biggest concern? She wants to be able to spar tomorrow. What a nut.
have you considered taking up bridge or tiddlywinks? don’t push your luck, homeslice. take care, dudie.
Glad you’re doing betting.
