    1. Comments on the election:

None of the commercials, speeches or debates were worth watching on an IPOD.

If the electorate had spent more time watching movies on IPOD, or listening to music on IPOD, they would not have had to watch so many vacuous commercials, speeches and debates on the teevee or listen to them on the radio.

IPOD needs to build a secure link to electronic voting machines so that citizens can vote from wherever they happen to be while listening to or watching their IPOD.

Watching Battlestar Galactica on the IPOD is preferable to watching the calcul8ted maneouverings of self-important Congresspeople as they
attempt to sway the voting population with the most pithy-yet-meaningless soundbites.

      Good enuff, Gus?

    2. I suspect we are not far away from a world where the masses vote instantaneously on their immediate desires on iPod-type devices. When that occurs, we will no longer need representative government since our votes are known. Why elect a congressman who promises to enact legislation to our liking when we can do it for ourselves directly?

It would be a better world with less corruption and less pork. If a project needed local funds, those with the money could vote for it getting approved. If a project, such as a bridge to nowhere needed national funds, it would only get approved if the rest of the nation were willing to pay for it.

Mob rule would be controlled through the courts, so all the males can’t pass a law saying women have to walk around naked – although I would vote for that.

    3. actually, Bernie, the sort of mob rule you propose is exactly what the authors of the Federalist were afraid of. majority rule regardless of long-term benefit or detriment. think about it this way: the citizenry in “flyover territory” would become the electoral slaves to the masses in the urban centers. what’s good for welfare cities like NYC, LA, Chicago, etc, would be the law of the land in Peoria, Pueblo, and Pierre. Much needed infrastructure development in Mississippi would be shunted in favor of new social programs in Detroit (because those dumb yokels in the backwater get more than their fair share as it is). This urban-rural disparity is precisely why we have the Electoral COllege, by the way.
