disobedience my ass. it’s an attack. if it comes to pass, people should have their computers taken away, the same as any other hacker.
and as a final observation, the dnc should be careful. i’ve heard a lot of complaints from the left about how far right wing the www, and the blogging community in particular are. they should be careful, lest there be a backlash.
I don’t think the DNC would have the slightest involvement in something like this. There is a grassroots groundswell of horror and disgust for Bush among the medium-to-far/fringe left– people who don’t even necessarily think of themselves as Democrats. Anyone participating should know they could get screwed according to current law, and I’m sure the RNC IT folks have anticipated it.
I’ve never heard complaints about any rightward tilt in the blogosphere. There are so many liberal blogs that I’ll never get to all of them.

You link the DNC to hackers, and you’re surely mistaken. The phrase “medium-to-far/fringe” refers to a portion of the “left”, i.e. the “medium left to the far left/fringe left”. I’m not trying to argue that the absolute political middle hates Dubya. Although I could point to my father, who usually votes Republican but who is sickened by him. And didn’t one of CJ’s coworkers stand up as a “Repulican for Kerry”?
I’m not crazy about Kerry, nor was I crazy about Clinton. I voted for Nader last time cuz I was confident Gore would win my state (he did). My candidate in the primaries was Kucinich, even though I knew he didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell. I’m a Green when I safely can be.
Anyway, there isn’t much middle ground in this election. A thin, thin band of undeceideds. Nader can go to hell this time around.

Take 1/3 of the political spectrum, the leftmost part. Then cut that into three parts. So now you’ve got the Radical Left, the Middling Left and the Conservative Left. The 2 leftmost parts are the portion of the full spectrum I was referring to (in other words 2/9ths of the total). Many of those folks– like me– are not registered Democrats.

I said “medium-to-far/fringe left”. Let’s go back to 8th grade English class where we parsed sentences. “medium-to-far/fringe” is an adjectival phrase qualifying “left”. Ask any native (i.e. not Texan, I guess) speaker.
