today, while eating lunch at matsui sushi in arlington. one of the waiters tried to make some small talk with me mentioned that the weather today, ‘whew! sure is hot’
now i realize he was just being polite. but my first impression was:
‘dude, i’m from texas, and it’s like 80 degrees outside. this ain’t hot.’
i got past that stage in college though, and didn’t say anything. just agreed and went back to my toro.
but it got me thinking about the seasons. warm weather and hot weather. then there’s the snow.
there are actually people who like the snow.
i like it for about 2 weeks. then i’m ready for the heat again.
i can’t quite put my finger on it, but every spring, i remember that i really love the warm months much much more than the cold months. i just can’t quite figure out why. little help?
yeah, i know.
oh, how i miss the costa de la luz in espana.
while having dinner on a terrace overlooking the beach, we watched a girl put her bikini on while crossing the road to the beach. she started changing while waiting for the light, and just didn’t finish. so she was hopping across the road, pulling her bottom up. all the cars started honking, and she just laughed. her date started jumping up and down, fists raised in the air in victory.
just one of the many things i’ll remember forever about spain.
just thought y’all might like a little peek into my mind. how an inocuous little comment like how hot it is can set me to thinking about entirely random things.
mmmmm.
bikinis.
the only thing the french ever did right.
I was going to write about how I enjoy winter because, oh hell I just hit the extended entry link and saw the pictures and now I’m just drooling…
my sentiments exactly
hey, i can totally understand the weather climate snobbery, only the opposite happens here!
i think we ottawans have it the worst, our weather has been known to climb up to 35 degrees celsius in the summer and plummet to minus 40 in the winter.
did you know the bikini first came into existence due to fabric rations during the war? i can’t be certain of this cuz i found out through cosmo and google is proving itself useless, but.. that’d be cool! nobody gave a shit and thought it was too “controversial” until brigitte bardot wore one in the 1958 flick, “and god created woman”.
im on the same page as you. im in austin, and still wearing long sleeve shirts. 80’s is simply not hot. up in the 100’s, now thats hot, no doubt about it.
the weirdest thing for me, is that im about to move to chicago in august, and i think it will be the opposite. everybody in shorts, and me freezing, but when i visited up there, my friend made the point that nobody up there has to be tough and wear shorts when its cold. i was wearing short sleeves, and all the locals were wearing coats and scarves. they must be a bunch of kooks up there.
