can you believe the card? holy crap!
you know i’m watching this live.
ok. for those of you who don’t know. i do a little bit of the martial arts myself. not mma. not yet at least. but it is enough to givee me an educated eye when watching events like the ufc, k-1, wcl or other.
and i have a horrible track record. i can look at two fighters coming into the ring and make a good pick, and tell you why the fighter i choose is going to win. and it will sound good.
and i am wrong some 2/3’s of the time.
so i’m going to live blog this. give you the fighters and my pick. then the result and let you see my score. and right of the bat. i’m taking gsp, machida, and guida.
but let’s see.
the card upside down, so i can give results as the show goes on.
bout. my pick winner
Matt Arroyo v Dan Cramer
Jake O’Brien v Christian Wellisch
Chris Wilson v John Howard
Manny Gamburyan v Thiago Tavares
Jon Fitch v Akihiro Gono Fitch
Nate Diaz v Clay Guida Guida guida
Karo Parisyan v Dong Hyun Kim Parisyan parisyan
Stephan Bonnar v Jon Jones Jones jones
Lyoto Machida v Thiago Silva Machida machida
Georges St-Pierre v BJ Penn GSP gsp
guida and diaz first. i’m watching the match!
ok, i’m 1-0. guida won in a 29-28 split decision.
next up, parisyan and kim. i’m waffling but am going with parisyan. i’m off to watch the fight!
ok, ok. i’m 2-0 for the first time ever! parisyan won in a 29-28 split decision too. it was close!
next up,bonnar and jones. impulse says to take bonnar. he’s a good veteran. but i’m going with jones. more explosive. i’m cheering for bonnat though!
holy shit batman. 3-0. i really, really wish i was in vegas betting on this.
next up is alves v machida. go machida!
wow. so now i’m 4-0 and feeling like a liar. machida is the man! knocked out unbeaten alves at the end of round 1. i need to learn some karate too.
next up, penn and gsp. see if i make it to 5-0!
gsp won by doctor stoppage at the end of round 4. i was cheering for bjp, but it just wasn’t to be.
