The Coming War

if you pinch a baby, it is going to cry.

if you tease a dog it is going to bite.

if you attack israel, they are going to bomb you. there is no guess work here.

hizballah launched a rocket attack against israel to invoke purposely a violent response from israel.

syria was in lebanon until recently. the governments there were essentially puppets of the syrian regime of hafiz al asad. now hafiz is gone and his son bashir is in charge. the lebanese elected rafiq al hariri to office who was anti syrian.

imagine that. the lebanese got the israelis out of lebanon, and then wanted the syrians gone as well.

the syrians killed him for it which launched a nationwide opposition to the syrians. who then left.

the syrians are losing any sway they had in lebanon. not all of it, but they have nowhere near the clout they used to under hafiz alasad. but there is an old player in the country. an old player named hiballah.

iran backs hizballah. iran has reportedly given hizballah more than 100 million dollars over the last few years to prop it up.

imagine that. our old friend mahmoud ahmadinejad is backing the group that’s attacking israel from lebanon.

and i say old friend even though he is still relatively new to their presidency because we were introduced to him as a hostage taker back in ’79.

but iran has made a mistake. i believe mahmoud has miscalculated. the democratic movement in iraq figures itself ahead of even egypt in democratic principles. those elections are paying off now. even the lebanese are not happy with hizballah for what they are doing.

in the past when israel responded/attacked (whichever you choose to call it) the arab street was angry with israel. the iraqis and the lebanese are mad at hizballah. at least a much more sizable percentage than has been in the past.

oh. and if anyone says the us military is spread thin? the israeli army isn’t. syria is short work if they support hizballah against the isarealis. and the lebanese will shortly begin to try and stop hizballah.

or the whole region could soon be emboiled in a multinational war. go ahead. say it. world war iii is on our doorstep. syria and lebanon together can do nothing to an aroused israel.

and they are so verrrrrry aroused right now.

let me find some of the links for y’all on the arab street opiniuons.

    1. No, Mlah, you are WRONG! You have no idea what you are talking about. This is all because Bush made the illegal invasion of Iraq to found the new Amerikkkan Empire of Oil, and fought against Afghanistan instead of delivering a heartfelt mea culpa to the Muslim world in the wake of 9/11! President Gore, or even President Kerry, could have prevented all this bloodshed, and instead we have Nazi-league Bushco stealing both elections and imprisoning all dissent by taking away our Constitutional freedoms and protections.

You are cheering the ethnic cleansing operations of the oppressive Israeli regime and their abuse against not only the proud-but-poor Palestinian nation but also the Lebanese as well. How could you dare try to pin the blame on the Iranians? They are only trying to live their lives without the imperialistic yoke of Amerikkka and its lapdog satellite followers. This violence being done by Israel is a crime against humanity which every right-thinking sentient being on earth should condemn. The bloodthirsty people of Israel should have this violence visited upon them until they finally slink off to the oblivion they so richly deserve.

    2. yes israel has right to bite anybody who teasing them. first hamas and hizbh, may iran syria is the next

    3. I love u guys.It all started when israel killed a hamas brother that was
dearly loved a day or two before the army boys were kidnapped.
If Israel can take ‘pot shots’ and kill ‘good brothers’ of Palestine, then…
It clears a way for “Any Kind Of Behavior”doesn’t IT!!

    4. Hizbullah was dumb and evil and asking for it. AND Israel is now inflicting collective punishment, contrary to Geneva Conventions. Both statements are true. Condi has asked them to cool it.

    5. collective punishment? how so? those strategic bombings of the fuel depot at the airport? destroying the bridges which facilitate the movement of military forces to the israeli border?

what they’re doing is a textbook example of command and control warfare.

they’re reducing the ability of lebanese military commanders to collect information, disseminate it. they are beginning to have trouble issuing orders to their troops in field.

the lebanese government said it best. we’re powerless.

you’re out of your league here gus. vastly out of your league.

carpet bombing is collective punishment. not smart bombing specific targets.

    6. I know what Israel is *trying* to do, but 73 Lebanese have been killed so far, including lots of women and children. The “smart” bombing has obviously not been smart enough.

The Pope is even pissed off: “The Vatican called Israel’s assault on Lebanon an ‘attack on a sovereign and free nation.'”

Another failed state in the making.

    7. yes, it is an attack on a sovereign and free nation.

it called the principle of reciprocity. hizballah, i don’t care what their official standing in lebanon is, is harbored and lives with blessing in lebanon.

they attacked a sovereign and free nation.

israel, as a member of the UN, is obligated to obey it’s provisions and rules. UNTIL they are broken against it.

israel is 100% justtified in launching attacks against lebanon. INCLUDING the mass carpet bombing of lebanese cities. those katyusha rocket attackes were not launched against any semblance of a military target. they were fired at the general populace of israel. the principle of reciprocity, which is an observed principle of the UN entitles Israel to do the same.

    8. “Eighteen civilians, including nine children, were burnt alive in an Israeli helicopter gunship attack yesterday on residents fleeing border villages in south Lebanon, UN peacekeepers and hospital sources said. The van was carrying families fleeing the village of Marwaheen after Israeli loudspeaker warnings to leave their homes. Seven of the dead were from a single family.”

    9. “Israel’s campaign, launched after Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers and killed eight on Wednesday, has killed 93 people, all but two of whom were civilians, and paralyzed the Lebanese economy.”

    10. “The Israeli army said yesterday it had struck about 150 targets in Lebanon so far, fewer than a dozen of them linked directly to Hezbollah. Most have hit civilian installations.”

    11. Gus, you do realize that one of the primary goals of warfare, in order to force the enemy government into coming to the table, is to attack infrastructure, don’t you? Shut down his ability to organize armed resistance, etc. We did just that in our air attacks on the fomer Yugoslavia under Clinton. That Israel has attacked infrastructure — which cannot be classified military and are hence considered civilian targets — is not remarkable. What is remarkable is that Israel has taken them out but done minimal damage to the infrastructure targets, allowing the Lebanese government the opportunity to relatively repair/replace them. Witness the bombing of Beirut airport: Israel allowed the Lebanese national airline to evacuate their civil air fleet before completely shutting down the runways. This is being done to minimize the long-term impact of the fighting on the Lebanese nation.

Moreover, Israel is going after Hizbollah, another of the notorious terrorist gangs which hides completely within the civilian populace. Israel is trying to remove a parasite, and there will inevitably be collateral damage. You cite the destruction of a couple of vans fleeing a target location, said vans hauling civilian families. Unfortunate, but one of the things that will ever happen in combat. Never heard of the “fog of war?” The US has had several such unfortunate killings happen dring OEF/OIF, as well. However, both the IDF (and the US) are certainlynot wontonly targeting civilians, as you seem to imply here.

Good for Benedict XVI! As a man of God he should decry warfare. As a head of state, he should also realize that nations have an inherent right to self defense. Lebanon has had decades to stop the Hizbollah attacks against sovereign Israel, and has refused to do so. Israel has had enough, and is now doing to Hizbollah what Lebananon has refused to do. In attacking infrastructure, Israel is also ensuring that Lebanese forces cannot actively hamper their efforts, which would lead to open warfare between the two nations.

Oh, and if you wish to argue that Israel’s fighting is just pissing off the Arab “street” and ensuring that Lebanon will ever after be hostile to Israel, well then. We’ll just completely disregard the last half century, shall we?

    12. “Eighteen civilians, including nine children, were hurried by Hizballah members into a van known by the Israelis to have been used by Hizballah in the past. When an Israeli helicopter gunship attack yesterday destroyed the van as it fled the border villages in south Lebanon Shiekh Marwaheen was quoted as being “delighted that his family could give their lives for Allah in defense of the Uma in their undying struggle against Jewish pigs.””

      What’s your source Gus?

    13. “Israel’s campaign, launched after Hizbollah captured two Israeli soldiers and killed eight on Wednesday, in addition to launching over 150 missile attacks into Israeli villages and towns has killed 93 people, two of whom were Lebanese military members, the 91 others were known to provide aid and assistance to Hizballah directly by granting them information and supplies, as well as giving them quarter. Irregular forces who hide amongst the civilian population in an attempt to draw enemy fire and increase civilian deaths is a clear violation of Human Rights and International Law”

      Where’s your source Gus?

    14. “The Israeli army said yesterday it had struck about 150 targets in Lebanon so far, fewer than one strike for each missile fired by Hizballah against Israeli civilians, none of whom have any direct link to the Israeli army. The Israeli Parliament has stated that strikes by Israel will continue against Lebanese infrastructure until Hizballah ceases fire, disarms, returns Israeli POWs, pays Israel more than 14.2 billion new Shekels in war reparations, and sends Hizballah leaders to the Hague to stand trial as war crimes violators for their mass wanton attacks against unarmed civilians in their unprovoked attack against Israel.”

      What’s your source Gus?

    15. Well gee Gus, even some news organizations (like the BBC) are admitting that many of those “civilian” casualties in Lebanon are actually terrorists.
