Speeding

i got caught speeding on july 2nd. didn’t even know it.

bastards. dc radared me and then mailed me the ticket.

there goes a 100 bucks.

bastards.

if i just pay the fee, it’s not any points. take it to court, it’s points, court fees, and a bigger fine. sounds like blackmail.

bastards.

51 in a 40. i don’t even have any idea what i was doing in dc on the 2nd.

i hate dc.

UPDATE:

Lobo Walk had a little to say about the law enforcement industry. it’s all a racket. they just want your cash.

i still hate dc!

    1. it’s all a money game. they couldn’t give a crap about civil peace. they just want cash. the police are an industry.

lobowalk had something to say about this. i think i’ll add a ping to his post.

    2. That’s weird.
When I lived in Virginia.. you paid court costs whether you went to court or not.
And that’s cool that there is no points if you mail it.
HOWEVER.. if you’ haven’t had a ticket (in awhile) maybe you can get off with probation and no money/no points?

    3. my dad got pulled over earlier in the summer, but they let him off with a warning because he hadn’t had a ticket in like forever… but it was pretty cool, they all planned ahead because one cop saw him and then radioed another further up the road and he came right after us. We were in his little red ’92 Mazda Miata and they prolly thought that he was some joyriding punk… bastards.

    4. When I was driving from TX to VA last summer this guy and I were going about 20 over and going in and out (but not crazy like) between cars because they were all going slow… this one cop pulled us BOTH over at the same time… I thought I was soooo safe…
      Didn’t get a ticket though.
Then same trip I got pulled over in New Orleans by some cop who seriously just wanted to talk. He was telling me about his ex who ran off to Myrtle Beach with some dude…. No ticket.. just a chat.. very weird.

    5. There are speed traps, there are damned speed traps, and then there’s Bel-Ridge, Missouri. The chief literally tells his officers not to run license checks on traffic stops, since that decreases the number of tickets they can write in a shift – after all, processing a guy through the police station takes a couple-three hours…

    6. Let’s see….

      I hadn’t had a ticket in over 13 years.

Then over 3 years ago, my record was shattered. I get a ticket from some local yocal cops who couldn’t give a damned.

Then I recieved 2 warnings over the past two years and waited for that 3rd time. That came when I was coming home from Buffalo. Didn’t give me a break (I know I have a lead foot) but I was able to convince the magistrate through a letter to lower the speed and then reduce the amt of the ticket. And…because states don’t recognize other states’ points, I didn’t get any.

I’ve had some close calls since but I just have to keep my eye out, particularly when travelling to buffalo.

    7. Ugh! I live near DC and I H.A.T.E. those radar things! And the red-light cameras too! I’m going to The Improv on Saturday to see Ralphie May and I won’t be the one driving. I hate driving there.

    8. Medium John–how old are you? 17? give it some time buddy…we all get caught eventually…I got a ticket last year…the (elderly–meaning-no batting of eye lashes was getting me out of this one) State Trooper said he was giving me a warning, so I thought cool a warning…next thing I know, I get a $143 ticket in the mail. some warning, huh? guess I was lucky I didn’t get my car impounded (for doing 61 in a 35).

    9. Consider that your 4th of July ticket! The American way!!! tee hee….

Poor Mlah…I’m waiting to accidentally run through one of these farm country stop signs (every freakin’ block!) and get pulled over by the sherriff….I’ve had to slam on brakes a few times.

    10. yep zoomie, im 17. and yes dave, it does take more than batting the eyelashes… however i dont think ill be gettin one anytime soon because i have to survive the “provisional” license first.

    11. when they used to have photo radar in vancouver, my old roommate got a ticket. they mailed it to her twice… and she ignored it. then they sent somebody to the house to give her a supeona. when i told her she moved, they wripped it up and she never had to pay (and deleted it from her record)…

so the question is, what is the possibility of avoiding that knock at the door?
