it’s been a roller coaster!
dealing with ‘closing’ on a house. i’m off right now for a final inspection of the property, then to sign the papers.
i should be sleeping on the floor of a brand new house tonight!
and yeah, i’ll give y’all the whole scoop shortly.
Congratulations! I was wondering where you had disappeared to, then I remembered yesterday it’s the end of the month, which means you were closing on the house.
Enjoy!

yeah, they tried to get me. i’ve been busy! now i get to start the ball rolling on moving in, buying some furniture… blahdi blah
Damn, mlah. I am jealous. I have been trying to get to San Antone for a couple of years now. But with the damn economy and the serious lack of jobs available, I can’t get anyone hired to take my place. Oh wait a tick, that doesn’t jive with what the media tells me. There should be thousands upon thousands of unemployed and outsourced people dieing to take my job from me. Do you think that the media might not be telling us the truth? Seriously, I have four full-time positions that I can’t get filled. My old boss was told that he needed to hire 12 more FTEs. Yup, if’n you weren’t leaving there might be hope for you!!!
mlah, closing day sucks. Hope they didn’t screw ya too much. They will try to get the shirt off your back. Anywho, congrats on the new crib.
they underreported my downpayment by a cool grand, and tried to glance over it at closing. just hoping i wouldn’t notice i guess.
i’m sure they got me somewhere else, but a thousand bucks is a thousand bucks! i count it as a moral victory
Mlah the landowner. You capitalist roader, you! Congrats!! Remember, points and property taxes are deductible on your 1040.
RojoXia, I know you could use me over there, and pay me better than I get paid now. BUT, I can honestly say that I would rather move to Europe for the next several years (as planned) than spend that time in Maryland. Been here years too long as it is (though I will miss the pleasant and colorful spring and fall weeks — all 6 of them — here). Be good for me to get away from the Beltway. But thanks for thinking of me.
Mlah, you’ve got us seriously considering a move to San Antonio. After Europe, of course, and then after Hawaii, and then after wherever we go next (San Diego? Japan? Burma? darn the choices!). But in about a decade…..
So when do we do margaritas to celebrate?

the ‘margarita’ plug is hot. i just need my blender.
think i’m going to buy a new one. when do y’all want to stop by? and feel free to come on by gussie, i’d love to see you in person!
You would soooo pump me full of lead, yeehaw!
I’ve never been to Texas. The closest I got was Tulsa, and that weirded me out enough, thanks. Seriously, congrats on becoming a landowing white male– now you really do deserve to vote as our forefathers intended before those pesky Amendments. (The American trajectory is progress and empowerment, folks, remember that if you have a shitty marriage amendment in your state on Tuesday.)
HAHA. Gus is funny. He said “landowing.” And the irony is that’s exactly what a mortgage makes you.
yep yup, landowing is correct.
the american trajectory is empowerment? we are empowered. and those who think they are not, well, me refusing to hold their hands on the way to success does not mean i am intimidating, or oppressing them.
white male landowner? you categorizing me? who’s the racist now gussie gus.?
That was the deal earlier in American history– only white, land-owning men could vote. No women, no folks of other races, not even any white men who didn’t own land. That was oppression, you would agree, yes?
Anyone who votes to define marriage as man-woman is oppressing today. And that would seem to be the majority, which makes me so sad. I’m a firm believer in “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.”
Gus the gay activist! Unfortunately, he thinks that homosexual activism equates to the civil rights activism of his parents’ generation. How wrong he is. Poll numbers say that even the non-white members of our society reject that comparison.
Defining “marriage” as man-woman is oppression? Gus I’m certain would add “man-man” and “woman-woman” to the societally mandated definition of marriage. Why not adopt the common-use definition extant elsewhere in the world, like “man-woman-woman-woman” — ala Saudi Arabia? How about “man-child” as agitated for by NAMBLA, or “woman-canine” or “man-bovine” or “man-man-man-woman”?
“Marriage” as an institution of society has its roots in religion, much as Gus hates religion and deems religious believers as backwards and ignorant (see his previous postings on that subject). Government got in the act of defining “marriage” for inheritance claimancy (and taxes), and became the arbiter of social mores when it refused to allow Utah to join the union unless it abandon polygamy. Then government equated the legal union with the religious institution. These several acts being voted on today are simply a wresting of the legal instition from the social (religious) institution.
But fear not, Gus! The court system, jam-packed as it is with activist redefiners of the Constitution, will certainly strike down any laws enacted by popular vote this day. Been that way for years.
And, should JfK be elected, we are guaranteed that the Supreme Court (up to 4 members) and the federal judiciary will have new justices who have predetermined the legal validity of certain issues. JfK promised not to appoint any federal judge without their assurance that they will uphold the “Constitutionality” of Roe-v-Wade! (Wonder what would have happened had some president promised to only appoint justices who would uphold Dredd-Scott?)
So Gus, don’t forget to vote tomorrow. Everyone else, vote today.
