so, why do some people abuse their children?
i mean, make no mistake, i had more than the odd spanking or two as a child. a couple i didn’t deserve, but that’s because my sneaky ass sisters successfully laid false blame at my feet and fooled my parents. not because my parents just administered random ass whoopins.
and what can i say? like begets like. i did on occasion attempt the same thing, and was not always unsuccessful.
but past the age of around 6, the whoopins in my house were always administered after an explanation. pre-6, sometimes a swift one hander could reap immediate behavioral changes necesary in public. past 6, i always got the talk. why & what i did was wrong, how it was wrong. how it impacted others, and how it hurt whichever of my parents more than it did me to have to beat my ass.
i’m still not entirely certain of that one though
so i found this story about a florida couple who starved the womans 9 year old girl to near death. when the 9 year old was found by child protective services she weighed just 43 pounds. she was wrapped in a nasty filthy diaper and was locked in her room. her hands were bound too. and she told police she was being punished for being bad. after removal and being housed with her grandparents, she gained 25 pounds in just 1 month.
i hope those two assholes get what they deserve in jail. actually i hope they get what they deserve before jail, and then get to enjoy the magnificence of jail as extra credit. maybe some like punishment for bad behavior.
the couple, Melissa Samoraj, 27 and her beau Raymond LaFountain, 31 were not married. and evidently, the girl was not raymonds. especially since the police, who originally described Raymond as her live in boyfriend, strip searched him at lockup and changed his gender, to an f.
and honestly, this was not a cheap attempt to continue the gays in the military article debate, i stumbled on it and it’s just too shocking to me not to post about it.
i just don’t understand some people. starving a 9 year old girl. i mean, come on, this goes WAY beyond going to bed without dinner.
If you ever really want to glimpse evil read a “child called it”…it gave me nightmares…
why people do the sick shit will never be answered… some people are just sick fucks… 🙁
That’s awful. I think it’s time they get a hold of their own medicine and go into solitary confinement without food.
Solitary confinement dressed in diapers only with no bed to lie down in and no extra food/water. Simulate the conditions these women kept that poor child in as closely as possible.
Reminds me of “Mommy Dearest”. And it IS VERY DISTURBING how anyone could ever do anything like that to a child. I don’t care how poorly the child behaves. That is just extremely poor parenting and stupidity rolled into one. I’m so glad the little girl is in a better situation now, but the poor thing will be scarred for life, no doubt.
Child abusers DO NOT fare well in prison…
It all goes around. It is just a bit of time before these individuals find their fate.
It’s all about Karma. I hope they get it too, that’s just sick.
Remember, mlah, my job long ago was investigating child abuse in NYC. What you read about was nothing compared to seeing some of the abuses I saw. My hubby still works in the field and comes back constantly with horror stories. And I’m not talking about a slap in the face or swat on the behind. I’m talking about sexual abuse by family or friends, broken bones, death.
People are just plain evil. There is nothing to say about it. psychologists and social workers want to put labels on people and “explain” away the abuse by saying that the perps were abused also or they’re mentally ill.
There is absolutely no excuse for abuse!
As far as justice, given that children are not voting members of the public, you can forget about justice. Not only what you read in the paper or hear about on O’Reilly, but just look at the numerous child abuse cases in criminal court where the alleged perps get very little or nothing for killing a kid. Yes, Susan Smith got life, but was that really justice. Andrea Yates got nothing. She’ll be discharged from the hospital in no time because she will have been deemed as “mentally stable”.
There are too many cases to even speak of that cry out for more of our attention, but children are not on our priority list (from anybody)
