everyone say hi to my neighbor wade. he’s building a p51 remote control plane in his garage, as y’all can plainly see.

i took several pics tonight.

here’s a nother look from the other side. and yeah i made sure the license plate is blurred out.

we sit out here and drink beer and whatever and wave at people. we live in a dead end, off of another dead end, so it’s really quiet.

here’s a better look at the tail. and yeah, this whole thing works and will fly. eventually. everyone in the neighborhood knows who wade is. the other night on national night out we went walking around and talked to neighbors. you try to tell people where you live, you give them your address. and then wade just says, yeah, i’m the guy building the plane, and everyone knows who he is.

you can see some of the reservoirs here in the wing. yeah, those are places where he can access various replenishables, like reloading the ammo. YES this baby actually shoots! little plastic bb’s though. i’m laughing cause i think they’re going to go about 5 feet before the plane passes them. yeah. he doesn’t know how fast the plane will go yet. he’s got the strongest motor the frame was rated for, which he has had to shore up, and he has an oversized 4 blade prop too. this thing is going to move! i’ve been watching this thing go together for the last year or two. and it’s around a month away from completion. mainly painting left at this point.

here’s the engine. those are real aluminum cowlings he had custom made. that big white tank up top is where the fuel goes.

well, i thought i’d let y’all know what we do at night. wade works on his plane while myself and another neighbor named karlito, from brazil, drink beer and supervise. basically we’re king of the hill. we stand out in his driveway and drink.

but we have fun.
